- parā-brahma-parā-śākti
jagad-rūpa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
O Ramakrsna! The Supreme
Brahman! The Supreme Sakti
(Power Divine or Mother Divine)!
Of the form of this world!
- dhārma-rākṣa-ṇāya jagati
dēha-dhāri Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You incarnated yourself in
this world to protect Dharma.
- janma-pūta-vaṅga-dēśa
vīpra-vaṁśa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You sanctified the Brahmin
family of Bengal by taking
birth (in that family).
- candramaṇi-kṣudī-rāma
saukhya-dātṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You gave happiness to
(mother)-Candramani Devi
and (father) Ksudirama.
- śaiśavē’pi śilpa-gīta
kalā-nipuṇa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Even in childhood you were
an expert-in the arts of
sculpturing and singing.
- pākṣi-pāṅkti-darśanāt
samādhi māpta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You attained samadhi while
witnessing a flight of birds.
- sāpta-mābda-lūpta-pītṛi
prēma-bāla Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You lost the love of your father
(because of his death) when
you were yet a boy of seven.
- bālya ēva virā-gāgni
dāhya-māna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Even in boyhood you were
consumed by the fire of renunciation.
- bhūta-bhuvi dhyāna-māgna
bāla-yōgi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were a yogi even in boyhood,
immersed deeply in meditation
in (the cremation ground),
the home of spirits.
- bhīkṣu-yōgi-sādhu-saṅga
mōda-māna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You delighted in the company
of religious mendicants,
yogis and sannyasins
- viśā-lākṣi-sādma-pathē
vīsmṛit-ātma Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You lost consciousness
(in samadhi) while on the way
to the temple of (Mother) Visalaksi.
- sūtra-dharaṇa-kāla-pālitā
pratījña Rāmakṛiṣṇa
At the time of your being
invested with the sacred
thread you fulfilled the word
you had given (to Dhani).
- dhanī-dātta-bhīkṣayā’ti
tūṣya-māṇa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were extremely happy to
receive the (first) alms from the
hands of (the servant-maid) Dhani.
- sūri-sabhā-rāja-māna
bāla-sūrya Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You shone like the rising sun
in the assembly of pundits
(in the house of Dharmadas Laha).
- śaiva-rātri-nāṭake
śivāya-māna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You became identified with
Siva during the drama enacted
on the night of Sivaratri.
- śrī-nīvāsa-valaya-kāra
pūjit-āṅghri Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Your feet were worshipped by
Srinivasa, the bangle-seller.
- sadā bhākti-gīta-dēva
pūjana-rata Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You Were ever immersed in
devotional songs and worship
of the Divine.
- kṛiṣṇa-rāga-yūkta-rādhi
kāya-māna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You (verily) became Radha,
endowed with devotion to Krishna
- lōka-śīkṣaṇaṁ vihāya
mōkṣa-kāma Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You forsook secular education
and strove for liberation only.
- dākṣiṇēśa-kāli-kārca
nādi-nirata Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were ever immersed in
services like worship of the
Mother Kali of Dakshineshwar.
- bhākti-hīna-rāsa-maṇiṁ
tāḍi-tavana Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You chastised Rasamani who
showed lack of devotion
(to the Divine Mother).
- jagan-mātṛi-dārśanāya
rōruvan hi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You wept bitterly to have a
vision of the Mother of the
Universe.
- ātma-hanana samaya-dātta
mātṛi-dṛīṣṭi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were vouchsafed the
vision of the Divine Mother
when you tried to end your life.
- sārva-kāla-jagana-mātṛi
dṛīṣṭi-bhārita Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were ever endowed with
the vision of the Divine Mother.
- śivōn-māda-nirā-sāya
kṛitōd-vāha Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were married to (Sri
Sarada Devi by your mother)
to rid you of your divine madness.
- vivā-he kṛitē’pi tavā
calaṁ-manō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Your mind remained
unaffected even after marriage
- bhaira-vēya-pāda-talē
śīṣya-bhūta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You became a disciple at
the feet of Bhairavi Brahmani.
- tantra-śāstra-sādha-nēna
sīddhi-māpta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You attained perfection
through the disciplines of the
Tantra-shastra.
- bhākti-māgna-cītta-yūkta
parama-bhākta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are a supreme devotee,
endowed with a mind
immersed in devotion to God.
- rāma-bhākti-vīsmṛi-tātma
vānara-sama Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are equal to (Hanuman
the great) monkey who effaced
himself in his devotion to Rama.
- kṛiṣṇa-bhākti- vīsmṛi-tātma
rādhi-kaiva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are verily Radhika,
who enffaced herself in her
devotion to Krishna.
- tōtāpuri-vidita-vēda
śiras-tāttva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were taught the principles
of Vedanta by Totapuri.
- cira-samādhi-mēru-śikhara
dṛiḍha-sthāna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were ever stationed firmly
on the highest peak of Samadhi.
- sādhana samayē’pi śīkṣi
tātma gurō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You taught your gurus even
while you performed sadhanas
(under their guidance).
- kraista-pūrva-cītra-dhārma
caraṇa-nirata Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were engaged in
practicing a variety of (alien)
religions like Christianity.
- sārva-dhārma-samān-āttva
sātya-dārśi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You realized the truth that
all religions are equal.
- ēka-vāstu-vividha-nāma
tāttva-dārśi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You realized the truth that the
One Ultimate Reality assumes
several names and forms.
- svapāt-nyai viśūddha-hārṣa
bōdha-dātṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You gave pure joy and spiritual
knowledge to your wife.
- prayā-gādi-tīrtha-nagar
yaṭana-śīlaRāmakṛiṣṇa
You went on a pilgrimage to
holy places like Prayaga.
- tātra dūḥkhi-janān vīkṣya
mōcitā-śru Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You shed tears (of compassion)
when you saw there, people
afflicted with misery.
- svapātnyā-mapūrva-mātṛi
dṛīṣṭi-bhārtṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were filled with the unique
attitude, as towards the Divine
Mother, even towards your wife.
- samā-dhīstha-sāradāṁ
supūji-tavan Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You worshipped Sri Sarada
Devi (during the Shodasi puja)
when she was in samadhi.
- brāhma-sābhya-kēśavādi
kārṣi-tavan Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You attracted the attention of
the leaders of the Brahma Samaj
like Keshava Chandra Sen and others.
- bhākta-sēva-kāgamaṁ
pratīkṣa-māṇa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You eagerly awaited the arrival
of your devotee servants.
- sādhu-śīṣya-bhākta-vṛinda
bhṛiṅga-kamala Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were like the lotus attracting
the bees, the bees being the
monastic disciples and (other)
groups of devotees.
- sādhu-śīṣya-bhākta-hṛidaya
kamala-taraṇi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were like the sun to the
lotus of the hearts of the
monastic disciples and
(other) devotees.
- narēndrādi-chātra-kōṭi
śīkṣa-māṇa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You trained a number of
disciples like Narendra.
- bhākta-pāpa-kārṣaṇā
drujayā-grāsta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were consumed by the
disease, got as a result of
drawing into yourself the
sins of your devotees.
- rōga-dūḥkha-nīrvi-ṣaṇṇa
manō-yūkta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Your mind was unaffected by
the suffering brought about
by the disease.
- mahā-samāa-dhau hi parā
brahma-līna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You were merged in the
Supreme Brahman at the time
of your Mahahsamadhi.
- nīrvi-kāra-nīrākāra
parā-brahma Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are the highest Brahman,
without modifications and
without forms.
- jagat-sṛīṣṭi-kārtṛi-pātṛi
hantṛi-dēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are the Lord (God) who
creates, sustains and
destroys the world.
- taila-vātti-lēṣu jagat
yabhi-vyāpta Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You have permeated the world
as oil permeates the oil-seeds.
- sārva-bhūta-hṛidaya-dēśa
būddhi-sākṣi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You, situated in the heart
(as the indwelling Spirit),
are the witness of the minds
of all beings.
- sādhakā-dyanū-grahāya
vapūr-dharasi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You incarnate yourself
(in this world) for bestowing
your grace on the spiritual
aspirants and others.
- sundara-tanu-dīpta-vadana
kṛipā-dṛīṣṭi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You (are endowed with) a
handsome body, bright face
and eyes full of compassion.
- sārva-kāla-manda-hāsa
rucira-vāktra Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Your face is beautiful, being
ever lighted up with a gentle smile.
- sumanasā’pi chēda-yōgya
mṛidu-śarīra Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Your body is so delicate that
it can be hurt even by a flower.
- vēda-śāstra-purā-ṇādi
sāra-vēttṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You know the essence of the
Vedas, Shastras and the Puranas.
- sārva-vēda-śāstra-vākpra
māṇa-kārtṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You bestow authority to the
words of all the Vedas and
Shastras.
- jñāni-janō yāsya pade’r
bhakā-yitō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Even the learned ones became
like children at your feet.
- kuśala-mate tīkṣṇa-manāḥ
prājña kavē Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are wise, of sharp intellect,
a man of deep knowledge and a seer.
- dīna-bandhu-dayā-sindhu
saṁśrita-gati Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are the friend of the lowly,
an ocean of mercy, and the goal
of the people who take refuge.
- apari-śūddha-giriśa-candra
śaraṇa-dātṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You gave refuge to the
wayward Girishchandra.
- pūtra-śōka-tāpta-mātṛi
śānti-dāyi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You conferred peace on the
sorrrowing mother who had
lost her son.
- kūṣṭha-rōgi-ghōra-rujāṁ
vinā-śayasi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You destroyed the fell
disease of a leper.
- mṛitsu-vārṇa-samā-nātva
dārśita-van Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You looked upon both a clod
of earth and gold with an equal eye.
- sārva-daśā-kānaka-kāma
vārji-tayati Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are a sannyasin (par
excellence) who has eschewed
lust and greed in all states
(of consciousness).
- āmara-ṇaṁ prāskha-lita
brahmacārya Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Your celibacy was unbroken
till the last day of your life.
- nikhila-tamō’śeṣa-hantṛi
bhāsa-māna Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are (like the sun) shining,
destroying all kinds of
darkness completely.
- ghanī-bhūta-sātya-vayuna
hārṣa-rūpa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are sac-cit-ananda,
solidified as it were.
- prēma-rūpa pūrṇa-rūpa
śākti-rūpa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are Love, Perfection and
Power in the fullest measure.
- sakala-kuvā-sanā-bīja
nāśa-kāri Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You destroy the seeds of all
evil tendencies (in us).
- kaluṣa-haraṇa-madhura-dharaṇa
bhava-suvaidya Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are the best physician
for the disease of worldliness,
destroying the impurities and
restoring sweetness.
- sathaja-nītya-śūddha-būddha
mūkta-rūpa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
The nature of being eternal,
pure, awakened and liberated
is intrinsic to you.
- jñāna-yōga-sīddhiᴗmacira
māpa bhavān Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You have attained the fulfilment
of Jnana-yoga in no time.
- nīrvikalpa-sīddhi-māpta
rāja-yōgi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are a Raja-yogin, who has
attained nirvikalpa-samadhi.
- dēva-nāma-niśāma-nād
aśru-vimuga Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You (are a bhakta) who sheds
tears on hearing the names
of God.
- lōka-saṅgra-hāya satata
kārma-nirata Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are (a Karma-yogin) ever
immersed in work for the
good of the world.
- kṛītsna-yōga-sīddhi-tulya
pāda-dhūli Rāmakṛiṣṇa
The dust of your (lotus) feet is
equal to the attainments of
all Yogas.
- yōga-gamya yōgi-gamya
dēva-dēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are the God of gods, the
goal of Yoga and the goal
of Yogins.
- nikhila-yōgi-pātē yōga
sīddhi-dātṛi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are the Lord of all the
Yogins. You are the giver of
perfection in Yoga.
- ṛīkṣa-mahan-yadṛīṣṭa-mapi
bhavāt-yēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Though the star is not seen in
the day-time, it does verily exist.
- ajña-gūḍha īśvarō’pi
tathā bhavati Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Similarly, God, though hidden
to the ignorant people, does exist.
- māyayā’pihita-tvāda
vīkṣi-tāstu Rāmakṛiṣṇa
But He is not seen, since He
is covered by Maya.
- hēma-kāma-gaṇaṁ kumā
yēti vēdmi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
I understand that (objects
belonging to) the group of
‘lust and greed’ constitute Maya.
- tasya bandhura-haṅkāra
itī-ritō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Its friend is called ‘Egoism’.
- bhākti-hīna-paṇḍi-tāstu
gṛidhra-samō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
A scholar who has no devotion
(to God) is like a vulture.
- sādhikāra-pūruṣa ēva
gurūr-bhaved Rāmakṛiṣṇa
It is only a man
‘Commissioned by God’
that can become a guru.
- asati jagati māgna-janō’
mūkta ēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
People who are immersed
in this transient world will
remain verily bound.
- sādhu-sāṅga-nāma-japau
mōkṣa-karau Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Company of (spiritually) good
people and repetition of the
divine name help in attaining liberation.
- malina-vāsanā-stya-jēddhi
sādhana-kṛid Rāmakṛiṣṇa
One who is performing
sadhanas must give up evil
tendencies.
- saspṛi-hasya mūkti-vacana
māsti kiṁ nu Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Is a person with desires
(in his heart) fit even to
hear the word ‘mukti’?
- ātma-jayāa strīṣu mātṛi
bhāva ēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
‘Self-control’ is attaining the
attitude as towards the mother,
towards all women.
- śrādda-dhāna imāṁ mūkti
macira-māpa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
One who has faith (in these
teachings) will attain this
liberation very soon.
- īśvarē prapātti-rāsti
sulabha-pathō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Surrender to God is an easy
path (to salvation).
- vinā śuddha-malina-vivē
kēna mṛigō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
He who has no discrimination
between the pure and the
impure is a brute.
- parā-nūrākta īśvarē
mūkta ēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
One who is extremely
attached to God is verily free.
- jñāna-kārma-bhākti-pathā
vimūk-tidā Rāmakṛiṣṇa
The paths of Jnana, Karma and
Bhakti give us liberation.
- nīrguṇaṁᴗca guṇa-yutaṁᴗca
parā-brahma Rāmakṛiṣṇa
The Highest Brahman is both,
with attributes and without attributes.
- īśvarō’pi yāca-nāddhi
pṛīśni-rabhūda Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Even God became puny
(in the Vamana-avatara)
due to begging!
- harer-nāma gṛihē yasya
bhayaṁ nāsti Rāmakṛiṣṇa
He in whose house the name
of God (is chanted) has no fear.
- anā-yāsa-mṛityu-mēva
yāccha gurō Rāmakṛiṣṇa
O Father! Grant me a smooth
departure from this World!
- dainya-śūnya-jīvanaṁ
prayāccha dēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
O God! Give me a life free
from wretchedness!
- klēśa-rahita-mēva mano
me kuruṣva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Make my mind free
from worries.
- sātya-pūta-vacō mē’stu
mukhe sadā Rāmakṛiṣṇa
May there always be words
purified by truth, in my mouth.
- ahiṁsā ca rākta-gatā
bhavatu harē Rāmakṛiṣṇa
O Hari! May non-violence
permeate my very being!
- pūṇya-pāpa-vivēkō’pi
bhavē-dēva Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Let (me) verily have
discrimination between
righteousness and
unrighteousness.
- brahmacārya-śākti-rāstu
me hi manasi Rāmakṛiṣṇa
May there verily be the power
of continence in my mind.
- gṛīdhra-vṛitti-rapiᴗmadīya
hṛidi ca māstu Rāmakṛiṣṇa
May greed never enter
into my heart.
- matiṁ dēhi balaṁ dēhi
padē sthalaṁ Rāmakṛiṣṇa
Give me wisdom! Give me
strength! Give me a place
at (your) feet!
- śūddha-bhākti-rapi-tavāstu
padām-bujē Rāmakṛiṣṇa
May I ever cherish pure
devotion to your lotus feet!
- rāma ēva kṛiṣṇa ēva
bhavā-nubhaya Rāmakṛiṣṇa
You are Rama!
You are Krishna!
You are both (in one)!
- brahma-rūpa śākti-rūpa
parama-hāṁsa Rāmakṛiṣṇa
O Paramahamsa!
You are Brahman!
You are Sakti!
